ABOUT US

E & G Welding Ltd. started in July 1984 and is a family owned and operated welding company
based out of Glidden Saskatchewan.

Ed is a journeyman welder and journeyman millwright.
Ed is now semi-retired from the welding industry and mainly spends his time
helping with the custom metal work part of the business!

Gwen is the business book keeper.

In 2007 we purchased our PlasmaCAM machine, and started designing and cutting signs in
January 2008. The machine is operated by Ed & Gwen's youngest daughter Amanda Hammel.

Amanda has a diploma in AutoCAD Drafting and is in charge of the custom metal work
from start to finish. Everything from designing, cutting and painting.
She also takes care of all customer relations with the custom metal work.
Everything from emails, calls, FB messages, social media, the website, invoices etc.
(if you call, message or email it will be Amanda you deal with!)

ABOUT OUR WORK
All of our products are cut out of new steel, with a computerized plasma cutter.
Our cutting table is 4 feet wide x 4 feet high which allows us to cut anything up to 4 feet high
and as long as 12 feet. Items we have done in the past that are longer than 12 feet
have been made in separate sections that are bolted or welded together.

We can cut material as thin as 16 Gauge (.0598" thick) all the way up to 3/8" plate.

Majority of our items are cut out of 12 Gauge and 10 Gauge Steel.
Standard sheet size is 4 feet x 8 feet.

We offer a wide range of designs and products to choose from.
And we specialize in custom work! So if you don't see what you are looking for,
send us a message and reference pictures of what you are looking for and we can discuss
whether it is do-able with our setup, and what your options are!

Our work is cut with a computerized plasma cutter, so the design you approve is exactly what will be cut.
When you place an order and have paid your deposit designs will be drawn and
emailed to you for editing/approval. Once the design is approved we get to work on cutting the order.

Our setup uses a plasma cutter. Which is a messy process.
Hard slag is left on the steel once it is cut. So it goes through a cleaning process which includes
grinding the hard slag off the back, and buffing off the remainder on the front and back of the sign
to remove the rest of the unwanted "mess" Then its ready for paint!

Smaller items we paint at our shop. We use Tremclad Hammered Spray Paint.
All the orders are primed and painted with multiple light coats to ensure good coverage.

Due to space limitations and not having an actual "paint booth" we only paint the smaller items.
Anything larger than 24" x 36" we outsource for Powder Coating.
Powder Coating is more durable than spray paint and it is the only option
we offer for larger items as its impossible to get good coverage on large items with spray cans.
(Smaller items can be powder coated as well if requested by the customer,
however that will increase the price and turn around time for completion.)

Our Powder Coaters are located 2.5 hours from us, so to keep the cost down for our clients,
we only make a trip to the Powder Coaters when we have several items
ready to go at once to split the cost of getting items to and from powder coating.
Once at the powder coaters it can take anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks for completion.

Our items make great gifts for all occasions, and we also offer Gift Certificates
in any amount for the hard to buy for people on your list!

Please feel free to contact us about any of our products!
